Rooted in Dignity

Families we have served

Rooted in Dignity gave our family the space to grieve and the guidance to make choices that felt true to who my mother was. The burial was simple, beautiful, and exactly right.

Margaret T.

Brunswick, Maine

We had no idea green burial was even an option. The team walked us through everything with patience and honesty. My father is resting in a protected Maine forest — that means everything to us.

James & Carol R.

Portland, Maine

From the first phone call to the day of the service, we felt cared for. No pressure, no upselling — just genuine human kindness at the hardest time of our lives.

Conservation Burial

Trees & Endangered Plants
Growing a Living Legacy

At Rooted in Dignity, we believe remembrance can do more than honor the past. It can help protect the future.

Our conservation memorial program allows families to support the planting of native trees and the restoration of threatened and endangered plant species throughout Maine. Inspired by our Living Urn and conservation initiatives, these memorials transform remembrance into environmental stewardship.

Families may choose to sponsor native species such as White Pine, Sugar Maple, and Paper Birch, or support restoration efforts involving threatened species including Flowering Dogwood, Swamp Birch, Black Ash, and Eastern Hemlock.

A life remembered. A landscape restored. A legacy that grows.

Conservation memorials help:

  • Restore native ecosystems
  • Support wildlife habitat
  • Protect biodiversity
  • Preserve Maine's natural landscapes
  • Create living memorials that continue growing for generations

Instead of a monument that simply marks a place, a conservation memorial creates something living, thriving, and beneficial to the environment.
